Alabama Frontier Days
Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson Park, a historic property of the Alabama Historical Commission, and the Friends of the Forts-Fort Toulouse Foundation are pleased to announce the 28th annual Alabama Frontier Days taking place November 1-4, 2023, at Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson Park near Wetumpka. Experience one of the largest and most authentic living history events in Alabama! See the south as it transitioned from Creek Indian lands to military forts and civilian homesteads from 1700 to 1820. Using Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson Park as its historical backdrop, Alabama Frontier Days focuses on demonstrating frontier life during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries as it happened at this historic site. The public can experience this "living history" as many frontier crafts and trades are demonstrated by specialists dressed in historic costume. This snapshot of frontier life includes Creek Indians, French soldiers and their families, British traders who lived among the Creeks and American soldiers who fought in Andrew Jackson’s army during the Creek War. Additionally, there will be a cannon demonstration and period entertainment featuring an eighteenth-century magician, strolling balladeers and musicians as well as merchants selling reproductions of items used on the frontier. Saturday is Alabama Frontier Days Family Day, a great day for families to experience the event and see the forts. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for children (6-18 years old) and free for children under six. Vendors will be selling food onsite throughout the event.
