Industrial Systems and Automation Instructor (Reopened)

The INT Instructor will teach courses in Industrial Systems and Automation and the Federation of Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) Program in accordance with course syllabi, FAME curriculum, College policies, and ACCS guidelines. The INT Instructor will advise and recruit students, assist in updating curricula, maintain teaching equipment, serve on College committees, support the total mission of the College, and coordinate instructional activities with the Assistant Dean of Career Technical Education where applicable and other duties as assigned.   This position will be require extensive knowledge of the instructional discipline and also be required to teach courses in Automotive/Advanced Manufacturing and Electrical programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Attend FAME-related training and conferences. 
  2. Coordinate the application, acceptance, and orientation of new students to the FAME program. 
  3. Perform assignments and maintain duty hours in accordance with the current faculty schedule. Classes may be scheduled day, evening or weekends to meet student needs.
  4. Teach courses as assigned in accordance with the course syllabi, facilitate student learning, and assist in implementing the total instructional program.
  5. Promote safety throughout the total instructional program.
  6. Maintain instructional related records including student attendance, student grades, enrollment records, competency records, student's plan of study, etc.
  7. Provide timely and accurate “Student No-Show” reports. These reports require instructor submittals, and instructors are potentially financially liable for inaccurate reporting.
  8. Maintain classroom and laboratory equipment, supplies, and environments, which promote learning to perform in the current and emerging work world environments.
  9. Communicate with program advisory committee members, employers, and former students to receive guidance for upgrading curriculum and instruction.
  10. Provide academic advisement and assistance to students in career decision-making program planning, registration, and job seeking.
  11. Coordinate with the college placement office to identify potential employment opportunities for students and to identify students interested in job placement.
  12. Assist in developing and upgrading course syllabi and other curriculum materials.
  13. Serve on college committees as needed to support the total mission of the college.
  14. Promote the specific instructional program and the total institution within the occupational area and throughout the community.
  15. Recruit students for classes.
  16. Assist in recruiting, orienting, and supporting adjunct instructors to teach courses in area of responsibility.
  17. Keep up-to-date with teaching methodology, occupational information, and technology through professional development activities.
  18. Comply with applicable laws and regulations communicated through memos, staff meetings, and professional development workshops.
  19. Adhere to annual faculty evaluations.
  20. Develop and implement lesson plans and appropriate test and measurement devices.
  21. Attend faculty meetings, in-service programs, and other college programs and functions, such as commencement and award ceremonies.
  22. Participate fully in the institutional planning process and assist in carrying out the overall instructional mission of the College.
  23. Maintain compliance with College and program related accreditation and certification standards.
  24. Retain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts.
  25. Serve as an MSSC Instructor.
  26. Assist the Assistant Dean of Career Technical Education with establishing and nurturing partnerships with industry partners, professional associations, personnel in public secondary school districts to disseminate curriculum-related and career information, state and local workforce development agencies/career centers, and other such entities to help develop a seamless community-based workforce development system aimed at the automotive/advanced manufacturing industry.
  27. Perform other duties as directed by the Assistant Dean of Career Technical Education.

 

Qualifications:
  1. Associate Degree in the technical area from a regionally accredited college or university.
  2. Three (3) or more years of documented full-time work experience in the occupational or technical field. 
  3. Effective written and oral communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to use instructional technology, experience working with computers and software.
  5. Must work well with others in an innovative team environment
  6. Must be willing to continuously participate in professional development activities.
